Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how recognized excellence—speed (lāghava) and courage (sattva)—naturally evokes collective affirmation. In a dharmic-ethical frame, such acclaim can strengthen resolve and unity, but it also reminds that war magnifies praise of prowess even amid tragic consequences.

Sañjaya reports that, upon perceiving the warrior’s agility and valor, the assembled kings shout a united lion-roar—an approving war-cry meant to celebrate and encourage martial performance on the battlefield.
