Chapter 137: Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki) Slays Somadatta; Yudhiṣṭhira Redirected from Droṇa
tava dṛṣṭvā tu tanayān bhīmasenapurogātān | abhyavartata rādheyo bhīmasenaṃ mahābalam ||
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in its battlefield form: steadfastness, readiness to face danger, and loyalty to one’s side. Ethically, it also points to the tragic compulsion of war—valor becomes inseparable from escalation, as warriors repeatedly re-enter conflict despite the cost.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Karṇa, seeing Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons with Bhīma at their head, advances again to meet and challenge the powerful Bhīmasena, signaling a renewed direct confrontation.
