उक्त संरम्भिणोग्रेण कुरूणां शृण्वतां तदा । तन्नूनमभिसंचिन्त्य दृष्टवा कर्ण च निर्जितम्

ドリタラーシュトラは言った。「あの激しく性急な言葉が、当時クル族の耳前で放たれたのだ。ゆえに彼はそれを思い巡らし、カルナの敗北を見たのであろう。」戦の評議と傷ついた誇りのただ中で、王は言葉の道義的な重みを読む。味方の前で一度吐かれた苛烈な言葉は、決意を固め、勝敗の受け取り方さえ形づくる。
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical force of speech in a public setting: harsh, impulsive words spoken before ones own community can intensify conflict and influence judgments about honor, resolve, and even the meaning of defeat.
Dhtar01ra recalls that fierce words were spoken while the Kurus listened; he infers that, after considering that exchange, someone (implicitly a key actor in the war-counsel) came to view Kara as having been overcome.
