Transliteration

svalaṅkṛtaṃ kṣitī kṣuṇṇaṃ ceṣṭamānaṃ yathoragam

Translation

サンジャヤは語った。「（彼は）飾りをまといながらも大地に打ち伏せられ、蛇のごとく身をよじっていた。」この一句は戦の苛烈な逆説を示す。いかに華麗な武装の勇士といえど、ひとたび倒れれば無力な苦悶へと落ち、驕りの脆さと暴力の痛ましい代価を聴く者に思い起こさせる。
