The verse underscores how war transforms beings into images of ruin—burnt peaks and shattered black heaps—reminding the listener that martial prowess and speed unfold within a morally grave landscape of destruction.
Sañjaya describes a warrior surging forward with great speed to reach the chariot of the rākṣasa-king Alambuṣa, whose terrifying appearance is conveyed through stark similes of scorched and broken mountain-like masses.
