Sātyaki-praveśaḥ and Duryodhana-saṃnipātaḥ
Sātyaki’s passage and Duryodhana’s mass engagement
tato droṇasya dāśārhaḥ śarāṃś chinna-cchinna-saṃyuge

The verse foregrounds the disciplined reality of kṣatriya-duty: in war, mastery and restraint are shown through precise counteraction—meeting aggression with skill rather than chaos—while the narrator frames the event without triumphalism, emphasizing the gravity of combat.
Sañjaya describes a moment in the battle where arrows are being cut down in mid-fight; the Dāśārha hero is engaged against Droṇa’s forces, indicating an intense exchange of missile-weapons and high-level martial contest.
