अथापरेण भल््लेन सुयुक्तेनाशुपातिना । दुष्कर्ण सुदृढं क्रुद्धों विव्याध हृदये भूशम्
athāpareṇa bhallena suyuktenāśupātinā | duṣkarṇaṃ sudṛḍhaṃ kruddho vivyādha hṛdaye bhūśam ||
サンジャヤは言った。「さらに、狙い定めたもう一矢のバッラ（bhalla）が、疾風のごとく飛び、怒りに燃える戦士はドゥシュカルナを胸奥—心臓のあたり—に堅く貫いた。」クルクシェートラの戦いの道義が揺らぐ空気の中で、この偈は、憤怒と武の技が結びつくとき決定的で、しばしば致命の結果を生むことを示し、ひとたび放たれた暴力は私情を顧みず、その陰惨な理に従って進むのだと聴く者に告げる。
