Adhyāya 69: Strategic duels under Bhīṣma’s command

Virāṭa–Bhīṣma; Arjuna–Aśvatthāmā; Bhīma–Duryodhana; Abhimanyu–Lakṣmaṇa

Educational Q&A

Heed wise counsel grounded in dharma and sacred knowledge; delusion (moha) makes one disregard warnings and rush toward self-destruction, especially when opposing the divinely guided.

Bhishma addresses a younger person as “tāta,” reminding him that both Bhishma and Veda-knowing sages had warned him not to enter combat against the bow-bearing Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa), but the warning was ignored due to delusion.
