Educational Q&A

The verse teaches reverent recognition of the Divine as (1) the embodiment of all auspicious qualities, (2) the cosmic presence pervading the universe, and (3) the benevolent ruler whose purpose is the welfare of all worlds—linking devotion with an ethical vision of universal good.

Bhishma offers a formal hymn-like salutation, repeatedly proclaiming “jaya” to the addressed Lord, describing Him with exalted epithets (universal form, free from affliction, lordship, mighty power) and affirming His role as the accomplisher of the world’s rightful aims.
