Vāsudeva-Māhātmya: Duryodhana’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Theological Account of Keśava
अमानुषेण रूपेण चरन्तं पितरं तव । उस समय रणक्षेत्रमें अद्भुत कर्म करते हुए आपके ताऊ भीष्म अमानुषरूपसे विचरते तथा पाण्डव-सेनाका संहार करते थे। वहाँ अनेक प्रकारके मनुष्य उनके सम्बन्धमें नाना प्रकारकी बातें कर रहे थे
amānuṣeṇa rūpeṇa carantaṃ pitaraṃ tava |
サンジャヤは言った。「汝の敬うべき長老――ビーマ――は、常人の尺度を超えたかのような姿で戦場を駆け巡り、驚くべき働きを示してパーンダヴァ軍を討ち減らしていた。これを見て、その場の多くの者が彼についてさまざまに語り、各々が異なる評言と解釈を述べた。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how extraordinary power in war evokes awe and competing interpretations among observers, reminding the listener that battlefield events are not only physical contests but also moral and psychological experiences shaped by perception, reputation, and the sense of destiny.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Bhīṣma, acting with seemingly superhuman prowess, is moving through the battlefield and slaughtering the Pāṇḍava troops; onlookers react by discussing Bhīṣma in many different ways.
