हयारोहा हयांस्त्यक्त्वा गजारोहाश्न दन्तिन: । अर्जुनस्य भयाद् राजन् समन्ताद् विप्रदुद्रुवु:,महाराज! अर्जुनके भयसे घुड़सवार घोड़ोंको और हाथीसवार हाथियोंको छोड़कर सब ओर भाग चले
sañjaya uvāca | hayārohā hayāṁs tyaktvā gajārohāś ca dantinaḥ | arjunasya bhayād rājan samantād vipradudruvuḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。「王よ、アルジュナを恐れるあまり、騎馬の者は馬を捨て、象乗りは大牙の戦象をも見捨てた。恐慌に陥り、彼らは四方へ逃げ散った。恐れは、圧倒的な武威の前に、軍紀を砕き、権勢の象徴（乗騎と戦象）への執着さえ断ち切らせるのである。」
