vimardaḥ sumahān āsīd alpānāṃ bahubhiḥ saha
サンジャヤは言った。「少数が多数に対して戦いへと押し込まれ、きわめて大きく、押し潰すような乱戦が起こった。これは戦の残酷な不均衡と、数で劣る者に迫る危難を映し出している。」
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the harsh reality of war: when numbers and force dominate, the few face overwhelming danger. Ethically, it hints at the tragedy of conflict where valor may be tested not by choice but by circumstance and imbalance.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that an intense close-quarters clash has erupted, characterized by the few being engaged amid—or against—the many, indicating a fierce and uneven encounter on the battlefield.
