नवमेघप्रतीकाशाश्षाक्षिप्य तुरगान् गजा: । पादैरेव विमृद्नन्ति मत्ता: कनकभूषणा:,नूतन मेघोंके समान शोभा पानेवाले स्वर्णभूषित मतवाले हाथी बहुत-से घोड़ोंको सूँड्ोंस झटककर पैरोंसे ही रौंद डालते थे

navameghapratīkāśāḥ kṣipya turagān gajāḥ |
pādair eva vimṛdnanti mattāḥ kanakabhūṣaṇāḥ ||
サンジャヤは言った。新たに湧き立つ雨雲のごとき姿の象たちは、狂乱し金の飾りをまとい、馬をはね飛ばしては足で踏み潰した。この光景は、戦の圧倒的で非情な力を示す。生あるものが、軍勢の激突のただ中で破壊の道具へと変わってゆくのだ。
