Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
गौरवं पाण्डुपुत्राणां मान्यान् मानयतां च तान् | दृष्टवा महीक्षितस्तत्र पूजयाउ्चक्रिरे भूशम्,माननीय पुरुषोंका सम्मान करनेवाले पाण्डवोंके उस गौरवको देखकर सब भूपाल उनकी बड़ी प्रशंसा करने लगे
gauravaṃ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ mānyān mānayatāṃ ca tān | dṛṣṭvā mahīkṣitastatra pūjayāṃ cakrire bhūśam ||
サञ्जयは言った。尊ぶべき者を尊ぶパーンドゥの子らの威厳を目の当たりにして、そこに居合わせた諸王は彼らを大いに讃え、格別の敬意をもって遇した。
संजय उवाच
Honor is ethically grounded: those who respect the worthy (mānyān mānayataḥ) naturally gain true prestige (gaurava). Social esteem follows dharmic conduct rather than self-assertion.
Sañjaya reports that the assembled kings, observing the Pāṇḍavas’ noble demeanor and their habit of honoring venerable persons, respond by praising them and showing them great respect.
