Devotion to the Personal vs. Contemplation of the Imperishable

इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत भीष्मपर्वके श्रीमद्भगवद्‌्गीतापव॑के अन्तर्गत ब्रह्मविद्या एवं योगशास्त्ररूप श्रीमद्भगवद्‌्गीतोपनिषद्‌र्में: श्रीकृष्णाजुनसंवादमें राजविद्याराजगुह्ययोग नामक नवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,८ ।। मच्चित्ताः मद्गतप्राणा* बोधयन्त: परस्परम्‌ः । कथयन्तश्न मां नित्यं तुष्यन्ति च रमन्ति च निरन्तर मुझमें मन लगानेवाले और मुझमें ही प्राणोंको अर्पण करनेवाले भक्तजन मेरी भक्तिकी चर्चाके द्वारा आपसमें मेरे प्रभावको जनाते हुए तथा गुण और प्रभावसहित मेरा कथन करते हुए हीः* निरन्तर सतुष्ट होते हैं? और मुझ वासुदेवमें ही निरन्तर रमण करते हैं:

mac-cittā mad-gata-prāṇā bodhayantaḥ parasparam | kathayantaś ca māṁ nityaṁ tuṣyanti ca ramanti ca ||

心を我に没し、命の息吹さえ我に捧げた信者たちは、我を語ることによって互いを啓き合う。つねに我を—我が徳と偉大さを—語り続けるゆえに、彼らは常に満ち足り、絶えず我のうちに歓喜する。

Single-pointed devotion expresses itself as constant remembrance and conversation about the Divine; such shared contemplation (mutual instruction and narration of God’s qualities) naturally yields inner contentment (tuṣṭi) and joy (ramaṇa).

In the midst of the Mahābhārata war setting, Kṛṣṇa describes the inner life of His devotees: they gather in mutual fellowship, speak about Him and His greatness, and through that ongoing remembrance they remain satisfied and rejoice in Him.
