उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
त्वं हि धर्मप्रवृत्तिश्न यश: कीर्तिश्व भारती । कुरूणां पाण्डवानां च मान्यश्वलापि पितामह:,आप ही हम भरतवंशियोंकी धर्मप्रवृत्ति, यश तथा कीर्तिके हेतु हैं। आप कौरवों और पाण्डवों--दोनोंके माननीय पितामह हैं
tvaṃ hi dharmapravṛttiś ca yaśaḥ kīrtiś ca bhāratī | kurūṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca mānyaś cāsi pitāmahaḥ ||
ドリタラーシュトラは言った。「まことに、あなたこそがダルマの実践の源であり支えであり、またバーラタの家系の名声と誉れの礎である。あなたは、クルにもパーンダヴァにも等しく敬われるべき、尊きピターマハ（大祖父）である。」
