Kurukṣetra-sainyadarśana and Arjuna-viṣāda (धर्मक्षेत्रे समवेता युयुत्सवः — अर्जुनविषाद)

इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत भीष्मपर्वके अन्तर्गत श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतापर्वनें श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनका संवादविषयक बाईसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,न चापि रिपवस्तेभ्य: सर्पग्या ये च दंष्टिण: शत्रु तथा सर्प आदि विषैले दाँतोंवाले जीव भी उनको कोई हानि नहीं पहुँचा सकते। राजकुलसे भी उन्हें कोई भय नहीं होता है। इसका पाठ करनेसे विवादमें विजय प्राप्त होती है और बंदी बन्धनसे मुक्त हो जाता है

iti prakāraṁ śrīmahābhārate bhīṣmaparvaṇi antar-gataṁ śrīmadbhagavadgītāparvaṇi śrīkṛṣṇārjunasaṁvāda-viṣayakaḥ dvāviṁśatimo 'dhyāyaḥ samāptaḥ | na cāpi ripavas tebhyaḥ sarpā ye ca daṁṣṭriṇaḥ | śatravaḥ sarpādayo viṣa-daṁṣṭriṇaḥ prāṇino 'pi teṣāṁ kiñcid api hāniṁ na prāpayituṁ śaknuvanti | rājaku-lād api teṣāṁ bhayaṁ na bhavati | asya pāṭhena vivāde jayaḥ prāpyate bandī-bandhanāc ca mucyate |

かくして、『マハーバーラタ』「ビーシュマ・パルヴァ」に収められた「バガヴァッド・ギーター」分章、すなわち聖なるクリシュナとアルジュナの対話を掲げる第二十二章は終わりを告げる。さらに言われるのは、この読誦により護られる者には、たとえ怨敵であろうと、毒牙をもつ蛇やその他の生き物であろうと、害を及ぼし得ず、王家の権威や世俗の勢力からも恐れが起こらぬということだ。これを読み、また唱えるなら、論争に勝利し、囚われの者は縛めから解き放たれる—この保証によって、本篇は法(ダルマ)を守護し吉祥の力を授ける源と位置づけられる。
