न वैश्रुतं धार्तराष्ट्रेण वाक्‍्यं मयोच्यमानं विदुरेण चैव । द्रोणेन रामेण जनार्दनेन मुहुर्मुहु: संजयेनापि चोक्तम्‌

na vaiśrutaṃ dhārtarāṣṭreṇa vākyaṃ mayocyamānaṃ vidureṇa caiva | droṇena rāmeṇa janārdanena muhurmuhuḥ saṃjayenāpi coktam ||

サンジャヤは言った。ドリタラーシュトラは、私が述べた忠告にも、ヴィドゥラの言葉にも耳を貸さなかった。ドローナ、ラーマ、そしてジャナールダナが幾度となく同じことを諭し、サンジャヤもまた繰り返し進言したが、それでも彼は聞き入れなかった。この詩句は、賢者の諫言にみずから背を向けるという倫理的悲劇を示す。執着と偏愛が支配するとき、いかに権威ある声であっても、王を破滅へ向かう道から引き戻すことはできないのである。
