tava prasādād vijayaḥ krodhāt tava parājayaḥ | tvaṃ hi naḥ śaraṇaṃ kṛṣṇa bhaktānām abhayakaraḥ ||

The verse teaches that true success and failure are ultimately dependent on divine grace and moral alignment: victory is attributed to Kṛṣṇa’s favor, while defeat is linked to his displeasure. It frames security and courage (abhaya) as gifts arising from devotion and taking refuge in the divine.
Sañjaya reports a statement praising Kṛṣṇa as the Pandavas’ refuge and the giver of fearlessness to devotees, emphasizing that the war’s outcomes hinge on his support. In the surrounding context (as reflected in the Gita Press prose), this sentiment is voiced as a response addressed to Kṛṣṇa, highlighting reliance on him amid the Kurukṣetra conflict.
