ततोअ<स्यानुचरान् हत्वा सर्वान् रणविभागवित् | भीष्ममेवाभिदुद्राव बीभत्सुरपराजित:,तत्पश्चात् युद्धविभागके अच्छे ज्ञाता और किसीसे भी परास्त न होनेवाले अर्जुनने भीष्मके पीछे चलनेवाले समस्त योद्धाओंको मारकर स्वयं भी भीष्मपर ही धावा किया
tato 'sya anucarān hatvā sarvān raṇavibhāgavit | bhīṣmam evābhidudrāva bībhatsur aparājitaḥ ||
サञ्जयは語った。するとアルジュナ――戦陣の区分と戦術を見極めることに長け、いまだ征服されたことのない者――は、ビ―シュマの後に従う武者たちをことごとく討ち果たし、そののち真っすぐにビ―シュマその人へと突進した。この一瞬は、クシャトリヤの法（kṣatriya-dharma）を際立たせる。すなわち戦における断乎たる行動でありながら、無差別の殺戮ではなく、戦略と道義の定まった目的へと刃を向けることなのである。
