इति श्रीमहाभारते भीष्मपर्वणि भीष्मवधपर्वणि संकुलयुद्धे सप्तदशाधिकशततमो<ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate bhīṣmaparvaṇi bhīṣmavadhaparvaṇi saṅkulayuddhe saptadaśādhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
かくして、尊き『マハーバーラタ』のうち、ビーシュマ・パルヴァ—とりわけビーシュマ討滅を語る章において—錯綜し荒れ狂う戦を描く第百十七章は終わる。結びの奥書は、この物語を戦争という大いなる道義的危機の一部として位置づけ、相反する義務とアダルマに駆られた争いの勢いの中で、敬うべき長老の没落さえ避けがたい帰結となることを示している。
