आरोग्यायु:प्रमाणाभ्यां द्विगुणं द्विगुणं तत: । जम्बूद्वीपसे अनेक प्रकारके रत्न अन्यान्य सब द्वीपोंमें वहाँकी प्रजाओंके उपयोगके लिये भेजे जाते हैं। कुरुश्रेष्ठ! ब्रह्मचर्य
ārogyāyuḥpramāṇābhyāṃ dviguṇaṃ dviguṇaṃ tataḥ | jambūdvīpāt aneke prakārake ratnāny anyāni sarvadvīpeṣu tatra-tatra prajānāṃ upayogāya preṣyante | kuruśreṣṭha! brahmacarya-satya-indriya-saṃyamānāṃ prabhāvena teṣāṃ sarvadvīpānāṃ prajānām ārogyaṃ cāyuḥpramāṇaṃ ca jambūdvīpād uttarottaraṃ dvi-guṇaṃ manyate || eko janapado rājan dvīpeṣv eteṣu bhārata | uktā janapadā yeṣu dharmaśaikyaḥ pradṛśyate | bharatavaṃśin nareśa! vastutaḥ eteṣu deśeṣu eka eva janapadaḥ | yeṣu dvīpeṣu aneke janapadāḥ kathitāḥ, teṣv api eka-vidha eva dharmaḥ dṛśyate ||
サンジャヤは言った。「それらの島々では、健康の度合いと寿命の長さが、ジャンブードヴィーパに比して二倍となり、さらにまた二倍となると伝えられている。ジャンブードヴィーパのさまざまな宝玉は、諸島の民の用のために他の島々へ送られる。おお、クル族の最勝者よ。梵行、真実、そして諸根の制御の力によって、あの島々の住民は、ジャンブードヴィーパの人々よりも、健康と長寿において段々と優れていると見なされる。おお王よ、バラタよ。これらの島々は本質において一つの国であり、多くの州が語られるところでさえ、ただ一つの同一のダルマが行き渡っているのが見える。」
संजय उवाच
Moral discipline—especially brahmacarya (regulated chastity), satya (truthfulness), and indriya-saṃyama (sense-restraint)—is presented as a causal basis for collective well-being: greater health and longer life. The passage also stresses dharma-śaikya, the idea that despite geographic plurality, a single ethical order can prevail.
Sanjaya is describing the traditional cosmographic dvīpas beyond Jambudvipa, noting that jewels are sent outward for the peoples’ use and that the inhabitants of those regions are said to enjoy progressively greater health and longevity. He adds that, in essence, these lands constitute one realm because the same dharma is observed throughout.
