Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the grim reality of kṣatriya-dharma in war: steadfastness, skill, and endurance are demanded even when actions are harsh. It frames battlefield conduct as a test of resolve within the epic’s larger moral tension between duty and the suffering caused by violence.

Sañjaya reports a renewed attack: a formidable royal warrior (a mahāratha) strikes his opponent again, hitting the chest with ten fierce arrows, intensifying the combat sequence in the Kurukṣetra battle narration.
