यतः श्यामत्वमापन्ना: प्रजा जनपदेश्वर । जनपदेश्वर! वहाँ रहनेसे ही वहाँकी प्रजा श्यामताको प्राप्त हुई है

Transliteration

yataḥ śyāmatvam āpannāḥ prajā janapadeśvara |

Translation

サンジャヤは言った。「国の主よ、まさにその原因によって民は肌の色が濃くなったのだ。そこに住まうがゆえに、その国の住民はその黒みを帯びた色を身に受けたのである。」
