The verse foregrounds the Pāṇḍavas as a unified moral and political body: righteous leadership (Dharmarāja) is supported by complementary virtues—strength (Bhīma), skill and resolve (Arjuna), and steady service (the twins)—suggesting that dharma in governance is sustained through collective responsibility.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana lists the principal Pāṇḍava brothers together, a formula that typically introduces or continues an account of their joint participation in the events surrounding the Aśvamedha period (post-war consolidation and royal rites).
