निहत्य पृथिवीपालान् सहस्रशतसंघश:
nihatya pṛthivīpālān sahasraśatasaṅghaśaḥ
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。地上の諸王を、百、千の群れとして討ち倒したのち、（彼/彼ら）はなお前進した――圧倒的征服の光景でありながら、同時に、大量の殺戮によって得られた勝利が負う暗い道義の重みを浮かび上がらせる。
