ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「その時、すぐれたブラーフマナは二つの耳飾りを鹿皮に結びつけておいた。彼の視線はただ蔓草にのみ注がれ、切り落とした蔓がどこへ落ちるかには注意が及ばなかった。ゆえに、彼が断ち切った蔓のほとんどは、二つの耳飾りを結び留めたその鹿皮の上へと落ちたのである。」
