Adhyāya 51: Kṛṣṇa’s Leave-Taking and Departure for Dvārakā (द्वारकागमनानुमति)
sametya tatra rājānaṁ dharmātmānaṁ yudhiṣṭhiram | samanujñāpya rājan svāṁ purī yātum arhasi ||
Even powerful figures should follow dharmic protocol: meet the rightful ruler, honor him as dharmātmā, and act only after obtaining proper consent. Ethical action is framed as orderly, respectful, and sanctioned rather than impulsive.
Vaiśampāyana narrates instructions about proceeding to meet King Yudhiṣṭhira and, after receiving his permission, departing for one’s own capital—reflecting the post-war restoration of royal order and courteous relations among allies.
