Adhyāya 40: Brahmā on Mahān (The Great Principle) and the All-Pervading Puruṣa
ज्ञानवन्तश्न ये केचिदलुब्धा जितमन्यव: । प्रसन्नमनसो धीरा निर्ममा निरहंकृता:
jñānavantaś ca ye kecid alubdhā jitamanyavaḥ | prasannamanaso dhīrā nirmamā nirahaṅkṛtāḥ ||
ヴァーユは言った。「この世にあって真に賢き者—貪りなく、怒りを克服し、心は澄みわたり安らかで、堅忍不動、執着も所有の思いもなく、我慢(エゴ)もない者たち—は解脱して至上の自己(最高我)に到達する。さらに、その至上主の栄光を悟る者は、功徳を伴う最上の吉祥なる帰趣を得る。」
वायुदेव उवाच
Liberation is linked to inner virtues: freedom from greed and anger, serenity, steadiness, and the dropping of possessiveness and ego. Knowing the Supreme’s greatness leads to an auspicious highest destiny.
Vāyudeva is instructing the listener by describing the marks of spiritually mature people and stating their फल (result): they become free from saṃsāra and attain the Supreme Self, gaining the best, merit-bearing state.
