गदन्तस्तं मयाद्येह पन्थानं दुर्विद परम् । निबोधत महाभागा निखिलेन परं पदम्,सौभाग्यशाली प्रवक्तागण! उस अत्यन्त दुर्विज्ञेग मार्गको, जो कि पूर्णतया परमपदस्वरूप है, यहाँ अब मुझसे सुनो
gadantas taṁ mayādyeha panthānaṁ durvidaṁ param | nibodhata mahābhāgā nikhilena paraṁ padam ||
我が語る今、ここにて今日、我より聴け。見分けがたきこと極まりない、その至上の道を。幸いなる者たちよ、最高の境地、究竟の位を余すところなく悟れ。
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse frames a spiritual instruction: the ‘supreme path’ and the ‘highest state’ are subtle and difficult to comprehend, so the listeners are urged to attend carefully and understand it completely—implying disciplined listening, clarity, and wholehearted grasp of the means to the ultimate good.
Vāyudeva addresses a group respectfully as ‘fortunate ones’ and announces that he will now explain a profound, hard-to-know path that leads to the supreme goal, setting up a detailed exposition that follows.
