Abhaya-Itihāsa: Karma, Indriyas, and the Non-sensory Brahman
Brāhmaṇī–Brāhmaṇa Saṃvāda
घ्रेये पेये च दृश्ये च स्पृश्ये श्रव्ये तथैव च । मन्तव्येडप्यथ बोद्धव्ये सुभगे पश्य सर्वदा
ghreye peye ca dṛśye ca spṛśye śravye tathaiva ca | mantavye 'py atha boddhavye subhage paśya sarvadā ||
ヴāユは言った。「幸いなる女よ、嗅ぐべきもの、飲むべきもの、見るべきもの、触れるべきもの、聞くべきもの、また省察すべきものと理解すべきもの――経験のあらゆる対象に、つねに汝の覚知を向けよ。これらを常に、供物のごとく清めて捧げる心(ハヴィスの心)で観よ。」
वायुदेव उवाच
All sense-objects and even mental objects (thought and understanding) should be continually observed with disciplined awareness, so that engagement with the world is purified and governed by dharma rather than by craving.
Vāyudeva addresses a woman respectfully as “subhagā,” instructing her on how to relate to sensory and cognitive experiences—smell, taste/drink, sight, touch, hearing, reflection, and understanding—by maintaining constant, deliberate attention.
