महादानानि विप्रेभ्यो ददतामौर्ध्वदेहिकम् । भीष्मकर्णपुरोगाणां कुरूणां कुरुसत्तम
mahādānāni viprebhyo dadatām aurdhvadehikam | bhīṣma-karṇa-purogāṇāṁ kurūṇāṁ kurusattama
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「おお、クル族のうち最もすぐれた者よ。ビーシュマとカルナを先頭とするクルの勇士たちは、バラモンたちに大いなる施しを与え、亡き者に関わる儀礼と布施――葬送および死後の務め――を執り行っていた。」
