बृहस्पति याजकं त्वं वृणीष्व वजन वा ते प्रहरिष्यामि घोरम्‌ । वचदश्षेदेतन्न करिष्यसे मे प्राहैतदेतावदचिन्त्यकर्मा,अचिन्त्यकर्मा इन्द्र कहते हैं--'राजन्‌! आप बृहस्पतिको अपने यज्ञका पुरोहित बनाइये। यदि आप मेरी यह बात नहीं मानेंगे तो मैं आपपर भयंकर वज्रका प्रहार करूँगा”

vyāsa uvāca | bṛhaspatiṃ yājakaṃ tvaṃ vṛṇīṣva vajraṃ vā te prahariṣyāmi ghoraṃ | vacaś ced etan na kariṣyase me prāha etāvad acintyakarmā ||

ヴィヤーサは語った。常の尺度を超える業をなすインドラは宣言した。「王よ、汝の祭祀の執行祭官としてブリハスパティ(Bṛhaspati)を選べ。もし我が命に従わぬなら、恐るべき金剛(ヴァジュラ)をもって汝を打つであろう。」
