एतद्।ि नित्यं यत्नेन पद रक्ष्यं नराधिप । बहुप्रत्यर्थिकं होतद् राज्यं नाम कुरूद्धह,“कुरुश्रेष्ठ! नरेश्वर! राज्यके बहुत-से शत्रु होते हैं; अतः इसकी सदा ही यत्नपूर्वक रक्षा करनी चाहिये”
etad hi nityaṁ yatnena padaṁ rakṣyaṁ narādhipa | bahupratyarthikaṁ hy etad rājyaṁ nāma kurūdvaha ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「王よ、これは常に、歩みごとに努めて守らねばならぬ。『王国』と呼ばれる主権には、多くの競う者、敵対する者が群がるのだ、クル族の最勝なる担い手よ。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Kingship is inherently contested; therefore a ruler must protect the realm continuously and carefully, with alertness in every step and decision.
Vaiśampāyana addresses a Kuru king, warning that royal power attracts many rivals, and urges constant, deliberate safeguarding of the kingdom.
