bhīṣmaṃ śāntanavaṃ vṛddhaṃ droṇaṃ ca dvijasattamam |
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「シャンタヌの老いた子ビーシュマ、そして『二度生まれ』の婆羅門の中でも最勝のドローナが討たれたことは、幾度となく我が心に耐え難い苦悩を呼び起こす。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when war is fought under the banner of duty, the killing of revered elders and teachers leaves a lasting moral wound; remembrance of such acts becomes a source of inner torment and ethical reflection.
