Kuntī’s Retrospective Uddharṣaṇa and Renunciatory Resolve (कुन्त्युद्धर्षण-प्रत्याख्यानम्)
ततस्ते बाष्पमुत्सृज्य गान्धारीसहितं नृपम् । उपतस्थुर्महात्मानो मातरं च यथाविधि
tatas te bāṣpam utsṛjya gāndhārī-sahitaṁ nṛpam | upatasthur mahātmāno mātaraṁ ca yathā-vidhi ||
それから高徳のパーンダヴァたちは涙をぬぐい、ガーンダーリーを伴う王ドリタラーシュトラのもとへ進み、作法にかなって恭しく礼拝し、また母クンティーにもしかるべき礼を尽くした。この場面は、規律ある悲嘆を示す。悲しみは否定されないが、年長者への義務と敬意は正しい作法によって守り抜かれるのである。
