वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a chapter-colophon, the verse underscores the epic’s ethical arc: authoritative sage-speech (here, Nārada’s) is treated as a guiding lens for dharma, especially as the story turns from royal life and war’s aftermath toward withdrawal, reflection, and accountability.
Vaiśampāyana signals the formal completion of the twentieth chapter in the Āśramavāsika Parva, specifying that the chapter’s subject was Nārada’s words. It functions as a structural marker concluding that unit of narration.
