वैशम्पायन उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement; its implied ethical frame is the turn toward āśrama-dharma—withdrawal from power, disciplined living, and the moral reckoning that accompanies the end of worldly rule.
The verse signals the conclusion of the nineteenth chapter and locates it within the Āśramavāsika Parva, specifying the setting as the Śatayūpa hermitage residence; it functions as a formal end-marker for the chapter in the transmission of the text.
