The Duty to Fulfill Promised Gifts
न हर्तव्यं विप्रधन क्षन्तव्यं तेषु नित्यश: । बालाश्व नावमन्तव्या दरिद्रा: कृपणा अपि
na hartavyaṃ vipradhanaṃ kṣantavyaṃ teṣu nityaśaḥ | bālāś ca nāvamantavyā daridrāḥ kṛpaṇā api ||
ビーシュマは教える。婆羅門の財を盗んではならぬ。たとえ婆羅門に過ちがあっても、常に彼らに対して赦しの心を保つべきである。たとえ幼子であれ、貧しくあれ、哀れむべき境遇であれ、侮ってはならない――敬いと自制こそがダルマの要請である。
