Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
जलेचर: क्लान्तमनास्तेजसाग्ने: प्रदीपित: । उवाच देवान् मण्डूको रसातलतलोत्थित:
jale-caraḥ klānta-manās tejasā agneḥ pradīpitaḥ | uvāca devān maṇḍūko rasātala-talotthitaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。水に住む一匹の蛙が、アグニの燃え立つ熱威に灼かれ、心も疲れ果てて、羅刹多羅（ラサータラ）の深みから這い上がり、神々に語りかけた。（物語の流れでは、アグニを拝見したいと願いながらも恐れる神々のもとへ、この苦しむ者が近づき、思いがけぬ声として彼らに告げるのである。）
