Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
त्रि:सप्तकृत्वः पृथिवी कृता निः:क्षत्रिया पुरा । पूर्वकालकी बात है, जमदग्निकुमार परशुरामजीने तीव्र रोषमें भरकर इक्कीस बार पृथ्वीको क्षत्रियोंसे शून्य कर दिया था
triḥ-saptakṛtvaḥ pṛthivī kṛtā niḥkṣatriyā purā |
ビーシュマは言った。古の世、地上は二十一度にわたりクシャトリヤの階級を失い、空しくされた。これは、ジャマダグニの子パラシュラーマが烈しい憤怒に燃え、幾度もクシャトリヤを滅ぼしたという旧き物語を想起させる。怒りの破壊力と、たとえ報復と称されようとも制御なき復讐が招く重大な倫理的帰結を省みるため、しばしば引かれる逸話である。
