गावो भूतं च भव्यं च गाव: पुष्टि: सनातनी | गावो लक्ष्म्यास्तथा मूलं गोषु दत्त न नश्यति

Transliteration

gāvo bhūtaṃ ca bhavyaṃ ca gāvaḥ puṣṭiḥ sanātanī | gāvo lakṣmyās tathā mūlaṃ goṣu dattaṃ na naśyati ||

Translation

ビーシュマは言った。「牛は過去と未来の双方を体現する。牛は永遠の滋養と安寧の源であり、また繁栄（ラクシュミー）の根本でもある。牛に施された布施は、その功徳が決して失われない。」
