Go-mahātmyam: Pavitrāṇāṃ Pavitraṃ
Cows and Ghee as Supreme Purifiers
प्रजा: सृजेति चादिष्ट: पूर्व दक्ष: स्वयम्भुवा । असृजद् वृत्तिमेवाग्रे प्रजानां हितकाम्यया
prajāḥ sṛjeti cādiṣṭaḥ pūrvaṃ dakṣaḥ svayambhuvā | asṛjad vṛttim evāgre prajānāṃ hitakāmyayā ||
ビーシュマは語った。太初において、スヴァヤンブー（自生の創造主）はダクシャに「衆生を創れ」と命じた。だが衆生の福利を願うダクシャは、子孫の創造に先立ってまず彼らの生業（ヴリッティ）を定め、しかる後に繁殖の創造へと進んだ—統治と創成は、糧と安寧を確保することから始まると示したのである。
