Brāhmaṇa-vandana: Criteria for Veneration, Disciplined Speech, and Protective Kingship (अनुशासनपर्व, अध्याय ८)
न मे पिता प्रियतरो ब्राह्मणेभ्यस्तथाभवत् । न मे पितु: पिता वापि ये चान्येडपि सुहृज्जना:
na me pitā priyataro brāhmaṇebhyas tathābhavat | na me pituḥ pitā vāpi ye cānye ’pi suhṛjjanāḥ |
ビーシュマは言った。「我にとって、父は決してバラモンたちよりも愛しい存在ではなかった。父の父（祖父）もまた同じであり、善意を抱くいかなる親族であっても、バラモンたちより愛しいと見なしたことはない。私は常に、個人的な情愛よりもバラモンへの敬意を上に置いてきた。これこそがダルマを支える道だからである。」
