गुरुशुश्रूषया शूरा: पितृशुश्रूषयापरे | मातृशुश्रूषया शूरा भैक्ष्यशूरास्तथापरे
bhīṣma uvāca |
guruśuśrūṣayā śūrāḥ pitṛśuśrūṣayāpare |
mātṛśuśrūṣayā śūrā bhaiṣyaśūrās tathāpare ||
ビーシュマは言った。「師（グル）への献身的な奉仕によって英雄と呼ばれる者があり、父に仕えることによってそう呼ばれる者もいる。母に仕えることで勇を示す者があり、また托鉢によって生きることにおいて『英雄』と称される者もいる。かくして英雄性は戦場のみにあるのではなく、規律ある行い、義務の遂行、そして自制のうちにも現れるのだ。」
