Merit and Destinations from the Gift of Cows
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca—Prabho! Bhavatā dharmopadeśaḥ kṛtaḥ, tena mama dharme dṛḍha-viśvāsaḥ utpāditaḥ. Pitāmaha! Idānīṃ tvām ahaṃ punar api anyaṃ saṃśayaṃ pṛcchāmi; tasya viṣaye me vada.
Dharma is to be approached through attentive listening and reflective questioning: Yudhiṣṭhira acknowledges that instruction has strengthened his conviction, yet he continues to seek clarity by raising further doubts—modeling ethical inquiry rather than blind certainty.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira continues his dialogue with Bhīṣma (addressed as Pitāmaha). After receiving extensive counsel on dharma, he expresses renewed confidence and then asks Bhīṣma to resolve another remaining doubt.
