गोमहात्म्य-प्रश्नोत्तरम्

Saudāsa–Vasiṣṭha on the Purifying Power of Cows

मनुष्य गोदान करनेसे अपनी सात पीढ़ी पहलेके पितरोंका और सात पीढ़ी आगे आनेवाली संतानोंका उद्धार करता है; किंतु यदि उसके साथ सोनेकी दक्षिणा भी दी जाय तो उस दानका फल दूना बताया गया है ।।

suvarṇaṃ paramaṃ dānaṃ suvarṇa-dakṣiṇā parā | suvarṇaṃ pāvanaṃ śakra pāvanānāṃ paraṃ smṛtam ||

ビーシュマは言った。「黄金の施しは施与のうち最上と宣言され、黄金のダクシナー(dakṣiṇā)は布施に添えるものとして最も優れている。おお、シャクラ(インドラ)よ、黄金は浄めの力をもつと見なされる。まことに、浄めるものの中で、黄金こそ最も浄めるものとして記憶されている。この徳の教えにおいて、寛施は単なる社会的行為ではなく、霊的に効験ある修行であり、ふさわしいダクシナーを伴って施すとき、その功徳はいよいよ増大するのだ。」

Educational Q&A
