गवां लोकवर्णनं तथा गोप्रदानफलश्रुतिः

प्रचारे वा निवाते वा बुधो नोद्वेजयेत गा: । तृषिता हाभिवीक्षन्त्यो नरं हन्यु: सबान्धवम्
bhīṣma uvāca | pracāre vā nivāte vā budho nodvejayet gāḥ | tṛṣitā abhivīkṣantyo naraṃ hanyuḥ sabāndhavam |
ビーシュマは言った。「牛が自由に歩み回っていようと、騒ぎなき静かな場所で憩っていようと、賢者はそれらを動揺させ、驚かせてはならぬ。渇きに苦しむ牛が、水を求めて人を見つめるのに、その人が水を与えぬなら、牛は怒りの眼差しによって、その者を親族もろとも滅ぼし得る。」
