उपच्छन्नं प्रकाशं वा वृत्त्या तान् प्रतिपालयेत् । जिन ब्राह्मणोंका आचरण निन्दित न हो
upacchannaṁ prakāśaṁ vā vṛttyā tān pratipālayet |
ビーシュマは言った。「そのようなバラモンは養うべきである――密かにであれ、公然とであれ――生計の手立てを整え、絶えず支え続けよ。とりわけ、行いに非難すべきところがないのに、糧を欠いて苦しむ者がいるなら、その者を探し出し、尊厳を損なわぬよう扶養せねばならぬ。ここにある倫理の要は、社会を守る者が自ら相応しい人々を見いだし、その維持を保証することにある。」
