(विद्वद्धय: सम्प्रदानेन तत्राप्यंशो5स्य पूजया । यज्वभ्यश्नाथ विद्वद्धयो दत्त्वा लोक॑ प्रदापयेत् ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | vidvadbhyaḥ sampradānena tatrāpy aṁśo 'sya pūjayā | yajvabhyaś cātha vidvadbhyo dattvā lokaṁ pradāpayet || pradadyāj jñānadātṝṇāṁ jñānadānāṁśabhāg bhavet | prajāvato bharet tathā brāhmaṇān bahukāriṇaḥ | prajāvāṁs tena bhavati yathā janayitā tathā ||
学識ある者に施し、さらには彼らを敬い供養することによっても、施す者と敬う者とは祭祀の功徳の一分を得る。祭祀を行う者と智者に与える施しは、勝れた世界に至る因となる。また、知を授ける者には食と財を施せ。そうすれば施主は、彼らの「知の布施」から生ずる功徳の一部にあずかる。さらに、多くを益し家族を持つ婆羅門を養い支える者は、その吉祥なる行いの力によって、子孫に恵まれる—まるで自らが祖となるかのように。
भीष्म उवाच
Charity directed toward the learned, sacrificers, and especially teachers is not merely social support; it is a dharmic act that yields a share in their religious and educational merit, leading to higher spiritual attainment and even blessings such as progeny.
In the Anushasana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira about the fruits of giving: honoring scholars, supporting yajña-performers, and sustaining knowledge-teachers and family-bearing benefactor-Brahmins, explaining the specific merits that accrue to the donor.
